Honeymooning in Tahiti

Honeymooning in Papeete, Tahiti

November 14th, 2012 | Travel | | Comments

After quite a bit of debate and negotiating, Brandie and I decided on taking a 10 day Honeymoon to French Polynesia. Only 8hrs away, we felt it would give us everything we are looking for in a honeymoon destination. Reflecting back on this trip, it went beyond all of our expectations.

Our first stop, and point of entry was Papeete, Tahiti. The capital city of French Polynesia and the Society Islands, it wasn’t very resort like, but exposed us to the tahitian daily life. We spent our first day in the city of Papeete, exploring the local market places. There was a lot of shopping and a lot of surf shops.

I heard that travel pictures of Tahiti, rarely are of Tahiti, and I now believe this to be true. They have the overwater bungalows but the water, wasn’t as clear and bright as the postcards. The real beauty lies in the other French Polynesian islands. Next up… Bora Bora, then on to Moorea.
